Motley

A motley selection of items from the past couple of months to catch up on.

Firstly, we made a special trip up North at the end of November, because the girls have a new cousin. Ian and Christine (my brother and his wife) have had their first baby, Innes, and we all went to meet him. So a wee trip to Grandma's house was in order (given that we've been back up again since then, you can tell that life is still pretty busy just now!)

First, the obligatory stop at Peggy Scott's...

The opportunity for craft and play with far more people than usual...

And a picture of Lydia looking VERY much like her Mummy.

Mummy and Daddy got a night out at the end of October, terminated only slightly early by a child that seemed most keen to play with Mummy's necklace...

I like all the thought that has gone into this playing. Naomi has a hairspray and scissors (or at least representative objects), Miriam has an apron - Naomi even has a name badge!

Naomi actually made this! I guess someone looking this grown-up-looking ought to be able to.

Lydia likes to dance, and push buttons. This toy combines the two.

Yet more great drawings! Both Naomi's this time.

She was in here for the time it took to inadequately brush one big sister's teeth...

Nappies don't always hold it together once the morning comes. "She feels a bit damp!"

Feeling proud

I have deliberated over the sharing of this, but I am so proud of Naomi I have decided a bit of bragging about her is in order.

Friday last week was Children in Need day and Naomi's school did various things to raise money. Naomi went to school in her pyjamas and bought some pudsey ears. Unbeknownst to me, there was a colouring competition on the day and Naomi (who is incredibly good at colouring) won the competition, quite impressive when you consider the *whole* school was involved.  She won a big tub of Heroes chocolates and was excited to show me when she came out. (Although the camera couldn't capture this amongst the distraction of being at a friend's house.)

She was very good at sharing some with her friends and the we took the rest home.

Over the weekend I had asked if she shared them with her class, she was sad to tell me there hadn't been time and so she hadn't been able to, although she had wanted to. I asked if she would like to take some to school to share on Monday but made it clear she didn't have to.

She carefully counted out one for each of her class mates but she wanted to do two each, I helped her count out another but showed her how few this left for her but she was adamant that she wanted her friends to be happy and not to be left out.  By the time she had them counted she only had about five left for herself (having eaten a few before) but she was really happy to do it.

Really proud of how responsible she was with her prize, letting Miriam have some, making sure the one she chose for Lydia was suitable for a baby and sharing such a large proportion with her class. She's a good wee kid. Well done Naomi!

Sisters

I just really enjoyed this - Miriam is looking after her little sister, sometimes shaking a rattle, sometimes just talking or bouncing her bouncy chair - but mostly very gentle and kind. What a good big sister!

Now it's time for some cuddles with Mummy...

By the time this post appears (it's being written on Saturday 20th) we should be almost in the car ready to start the Christmas holiday. So see some of you soon!

Unashamed bragging

Look how good Naomi is at drawing a person.  So good I am considering buying her some paper to draw on instead of making her draw on envelopes and spam mail that has arrived at the house!

Well done baby!
